Website Checklist
Making sure your website is covering the basics? Here is a checklist I developed for small business owners and their websites.
Items are numbered for reference, and do not indicate levels of importance:
- Your company name and logo – Don’t forget your tagline!
- Contact information – An email is not enough.
- About Us page – Quick tutorial: How to Write an “About Me” Page
- Mission and/or introduction message – Keep it brief.
- Use unique and well developed titles for each page – Home is not a title!
- Meta and structured data – Structured data can be in microformat or RDF format.
- Easy method to navigate website
- Consistent format throughout website
- Search site function – Especially important if a site has more than 100 pages.
- Testimonials for products or service
- Shipping and payment details – Highlight any shipping promotions you might have.
- FAQs
- Customer service information
- Customer feedback
- Method for user to subscribe/follow for updates or notices – Make sure those first time visitors come back!
- Copyright notice
- Privacy Policy
