Website Checklist

Making sure your website is covering the basics? Here is a checklist I developed for small business owners and their websites.

Items are numbered for reference, and do not indicate levels of importance:

  1. Your company name and logo – Don’t forget your tagline!
  2. Contact informationAn email is not enough.
  3. About Us page – Quick tutorial: How to Write an “About Me” Page
  4. Mission and/or introduction message – Keep it brief.
  5. Use unique and well developed titles for each page – Home is not a title!
  6. Meta and structured data – Structured data can be in microformat or RDF format.
  7. Easy method to navigate website
  8. Consistent format throughout website
  9. Search site function – Especially important if a site has more than 100 pages.
  10. Testimonials for products or service
  11. Shipping and payment details – Highlight any shipping promotions you might have.
  12. FAQs
  13. Customer service information
  14. Customer feedback
  15. Method for user to subscribe/follow for updates or notices – Make sure those first time visitors come back!
  16. Copyright notice
  17. Privacy Policy
