A Task Analysis detects potential issues that may be preventing visitors from accomplishing a desired goal, such as a sale for example. If there is a sense that your site is failing a particular way, running a task analysis is an obvious method to find out why.

Basic Task Analysis

The Basic Task Analysis is a heuristic analysis. The step by step method is as follows:

• Identify the goal of the visitor, requires your help
• Outline the current normal process visitors take to achieve the task, requires your help
• Identify the quickest way to achieve the task
• See if achieving the task is part of the natural flow of the site
• Identify items that may be preventing the task from being completed
• Comparison test to leading competitor, or industry if no competitor

Advance Task Analysis

The Advanced Task Analysis is much like the basic, but will involve ten test subjects best fitting the desired demographic. After each test subject completes the desired action, they will then be interviewed about what they liked or disliked about the process. Some interview questions will also include more broad topics in regards to site design. The results will produce a high quality recommendation on how to improve performance. The report you will receive will be highly detailed about every aspect of the current process, it will include suggested changes that may should occur, and will also include results found from the subjects.

The cost of this analysis $695, and includes a free Basic Usability and Design Analysis.
