Chatter? Yep. I was recently asked to do a basic review posts of DTV Forum, and after looking at it for a few minutes I quickly noticed something that as webmasters, we need to pay close attention to. Where is your chatter? A more accurate way of saying this is “Where is the action occuring on your site?”

Digital Television Forum, as you may guess, is a forum about digital television. It’s a pretty new forum that discusses topics like the digital transition, and how to cope. They also have several other categories as well though, and that is what got me thinking about where their chatter is at. Their action/chatter is occurring at the TV Show Forum. It looks likes most people want to just talk about the TV shows, and really cared less about the whole digital transition that is occurring in the U.S..

Not all shows captured everyones attention though, like if you looked at that stupid Lost shows forum, Lost Forum. There was a whopping one post there. Sorry if you like that show, but I personally can’t stand shows like that.

So Why Pay Attention?

So as a webmaster noticing things like, everyone is looking at my televisions section more than the digital transition part might be a good clue to you that you need to change the placement of the categories. If the DTV forum continues to get most of its chatter on the TV show forum, I would move that right up to the top. It’s what people want, so you might as well give it to them.

DTV Forum

Building an active forum is tough business, but they at least got vBulletin running. If you didn’t know already, I am a big fan of vBulletin for many reasons. Get your TV converted yet? I hope so.
