No user testing here. I just installed the Twitter Retweet button on to my blog, and am going to give it a try. I can’t ignore it anymore. Looking at many of the top blogs out there, that button just keeps subconsciously saying to me, “Add this to your blog”. I finally did it, and you can find it on the bottom left of this, and every post I’ve made.

I use WordPress for this blog, and if you do to, the easy way to install this plugin is by simply searching the plugin archive through your dashboard for the plugin titled: tweetmeme. Then you are just one click from having it yourself. TweetMeme supports several other applications besides WordPress as well.

The plugin allows for choice in button size, CSS styling, and general positioning. Simply type in your Twitter user name so the RT can give you credit, and you on your way. The plugin also has a little analytic data that goes with it. Obviously you can get the number of tweets simply by looking at the button for each post, but the additional analytics reveals who actually made the tweets. Nice to see your post get a tweet by someone with 10,000 plus followers.

The way people RT stuff on Twitter, I could really see this helping in the viral marketing efforts for this blog and yours.

Since it’s new to this blog, I’m also hoping you please help me out by making that button say more than 2!

  1. Hello Robert,

The retweet button is an excellent tool and there are several different plug-ins for WordPress. I have used the one you are currently using but had to switch to another due to a technical glitch with the counter. The support I got was excellent but we couldn’t fix the problem. No matter which plug-in you use, I feel it’s a great enhancement for anyone who blogs.

    • Hey Robert!

That is funny. I actually tried a few others before I added this one. I kept getting weird display issues with the others. I don’t like having a lot of extra junk on my blog, but I could see how this could really help spread the word quickly about a good post.

  2. I was looking at this one for the GritFX Magazine. However, I don’t think our traffic is at the level where it would add to the blog. What kind of traffic would you say you’d need to feel confident in adding this? Or does it not matter – maybe adding it will provide more traffic to the site…? thinking “out loud”.

    • Well…the reason I added it was to get Twitter users to tweet the posts. Why do I want that? To get more traffic. Based on that fact, I would say anytime is a good time. I’m not 100% sold on it yet, but I think it’s a good idea so am giving it a try.

  3. This is new… I’ll give it a try

  4. I have already tried this one and it is really great. Nice one here!

    • Thanks for the comment Katrina, and good to hear you like it. I plan on making another post about it in a month or so. If it works as plan, I should see an increase in Twitter or bitly referrals.

  5. I am already using it :)

  6. I like the retweet button, but I dont understand why when I first set it up in my blog that it has a seven on the tweets, also when tweeting a blog post it is referencing my old blog name, any help here?

    • You had seven because it was already tweeted. The button does not track the number of times it gets hits. It tracks how many times there was a tweet about that particular page.

In regards to it referencing your old blog. Check your blog settings. If you use WP go to Settings -> General.

  7. wow great information, i will try it

  8. Word press offers many great plug-ins and that too all free. I think its a good idea to try out this one too.

  9. what is better in hosting blogspot or wordpress?

  10. I really like your blog and i really appreciate the excellent quality content you are posting here.
