Twitter Toolbar Users

So I was checking some stats today about my Twitter Toolbar, and found that 17-27% of those who download it use it everyday. I thought that was pretty impressive. I was able to gain that information from Mozzilla, and it’s based only of those of you that are developers. The toolbar is currently in Mozzilla’s Sandbox, and won’t be available to the public on their site until enough of them review it. You can still download it here though: Twitter Toolbar.
Checking the stats I have, the toolbar is now averaging over fifty downloads everyday from this site. It’s available for download from several software sites, and I really have no idea how many times it’s been downloaded. I can say it’s been at least downloaded over 10,000 times from this site alone since I made it in October 2008. Twitter is growing, and so is the use of the toolbar!
What’s Next?
When I first made the toolbar I think I had a whopping 10 updates to my name @camp185. I saw Twitter, loved it, and cranked out the toolbar over the weekend. Recently though, I am getting a pretty good following, and have become more of a power Twitter user. Over time I am finding my toolbar is missing a few functions, I think, and it’s time to add some more functionality.
Many of you have expressed the need of customization. My biggest issue is the drop down menu. It’s missing some frequently used items, and I want to delete things like “eating breakfast” and the other junk stuff. When I made it, I had no idea what people tweet or how they tweet.
So to solve both of the problems the next update will change the drop down so that it strore your tweets, include an option to delete it’s history of course, and include a few basic Twitter commands like RT, @, D and stuff like that. It will still include the URL grabber too. I think this will make it absolutely rock! I know many of you like to repeat your tweets, and this will for sure be the best application to do just that. It may even be a reason to switch to Firefox for you IE users.
When will the next update be? Soon, but I can’t give an exact date. I will need a solid day to do it, and those don’t come often. My goal is to have it for you by the end of April though so stay tuned, it shouldn’t be long.

I have version 1.08 and I really like it, so I hope you don’t eliminate any of its features. I may be alone in this, but the only feature I *never* use is the What are you doing? window. Probably because if I’m tweeting, I have my Twitter page up or my Hootlet. The one thing I would welcome — and I mentioned it to you before — is the ability to add other shortcuts to the tool bar. Knowing absolutely nothing about creating a tool bar, I don’t know if this is even possible. But I keep thinking how cool it would be if I could move all my Twitter-related shortcuts onto the Twitter toolbar, which takes up a whole row of space but only really needs a half-row. Hope you’re having a happy Saturday, and thanks again for the tool bar. — Linda @mizmedia @coppertalk
Glad you still use. The drop down menu will remain pretty much the same. When I meant drop down box, I mean where you type in updates. If you are using version 1.08 you should upgrade now to 1.09. I made that left menu a little better, fixed a conflicting shortcut button, and made it so if you do type in 140 characters the toolbar takes you to your Twitter page with the message for easy editing. 1.09 was small changes, but really good ones.
Sounds good, I’ll upgrade. Thanks!
