Not too long ago I posted how bloggers are trashing the Thesis theme for WordPress. Well, apparently trashing is the wrong word. It’s more like killing it. I honestly think the Thesis theme is pretty great, and by default it’s code is clean. I keep seeing bloggers destroying it though with hacks, plugins, and whatnot leaving a completely brutalized theme. Today though, I saw the unhealthy word on one of their ads…”Discount”.
The Thesis Discount Has Begun

I saw this ad today for Thesis on another blog. I’m wondering are sales going down? Is the competition rising, or are the bloggers that already using the theme simply giving it a bad rap by destroying it.
Thesis is solid out of the box, and no I do not get paid or have been paid for anything I have said about Thesis. Code is valid, heading tags are well formated creating an excellent outline of your site content, and the look is smooth and clean.
Bloggers just insist on bashing it though throwing in all sorts of plugins and hacks that (forget validating here) screw up the format. I’ve seen Thesis themes with text hanging off to the right of the sidebar, Google ads cut in half, logos above pixel one. Who would want a Thesis theme? They often appear to suck. This gets me to thinking about the old battle of do guns kill or people kill.
Good luck Thesis, a great product brutalized. Maybe you guys just didn’t charge enough.

Your assumptions are flawed, IMO. There’s been only one official discount of Thesis from DIY Themes, in conjunction with the national consumer-fest called “Black Friday” – a bit of generosity from the publisher that you’ll not likely see again.
All other “discounts” are actually rebates offered by members of the Thesis affiliate network – a way of attracting sales to them specifically. If anything, the growing number of rebate offers speaks to the popularity of the theme.
Plan to do it myself, in fact.
As for bloggers “screwing up” the format and such – that can and does happen to any theme, eh?
Well glad to here it’s not dying. Like I wrote in the post, I’m actually a big fan of the theme due to its natural clarity.
