Submit an Article while You are at It

Busy marketing your website? Live in Chicago? LinKernel Business Directory is a new web directory with a slight twist. First, if your business is based in Chicago Illinois, you can list your site for free (see item #15 on their FAQ page). Second, the twist to this directory is that it also supports article submissions as well. Getting articles that you write on other sites is a great way to get free referral traffic to your site for free.

LinKernel hosts articles, and lists business websites in its directory. Submitting articles to help promote your product or service is completely free. There are some guidelines on what you can submit, but posts can accept 5,000 characters so you can write a pretty fat article if you wanted to. Here is a sampler from their site: What is Halloween?

In regards to submitting your site to its web directory, know that it only accepts business websites. You Chicago folks, get it free! Also know they keep the directory very tight, so don’t expect to find it fluffed or filled with made for Adsense type sites, or basic junk sites. Just real business owners listing their real companies.

Listing fees very between the featured for $41, and the regular listing of just $16. The main advantage of the feature listing is that you get to include either a video, logo, or PDF brochure with it.

What I Liked

One thing I particularly like about the site is the My Listings Feature. When you are browsing through their directory, each site has a save feature. By clicking save, it automatically saves the link under your listing. No need to create an account here. It’s just a quick little cache to remember what you like. If only DMOZ had this feature. I love it.
