Saving Your Best Post for That Perfect Time of Day

I haven’t actually put this into practice, but I am pretty sure I will not be posting my best articles on the weekends. Every morning I read a ton of other blogs. I have two groups, my favorites, and those that I find through Google Alerts. After reading several really bad blog articles that were posted on this Monday, I got to thinking. Is Monday just a really bad day for blogging?

It’s Not Monday

That fact that I read several bad blog posts from Monday didn’t mean Monday was a bad day for blogging. It just meant I read a bunch of bad blogs posts made on that day. After thinking about it though, I wanted to know how bad my Monday posts were. Looking back over the past four months I marked the best day of the week for this site in regards to traffic.

Here are how my days of the week ranked with the best on top:

  1. Wednesdays
  2. Tuesdays
  3. Thursdays
  4. Mondays
  5. Fridays

Saturday or Sunday did not rank once as a top day for over the four month period. Regardless on how great that posts is, posting on the weekend is probably a bad idea. A lot of people actually stand up, and walk away from the computer. Friday’s on this site were nearly as dismal. I had only one strong Friday. This may be a good day for me to spin doctor, because I know the internet traffic is still there.

When should I post my best article? Probably Wednesday.

Time of Day

Another thing I looked at was the time of day when most visitors start coming to my site. Traffic starts crawling in at 7:00 a.m., but it really starts surging in at 9:00 a.m.. So what time of day should I post my new stuff? Probably when visitors start knocking at the door, at 7:00 a.m.. That means for me, I need to write that post the day before. I like to do my reading in the morning.

For Now On

Will I be releasing that perfect post every Wednesday morning at 7:00 a.m.? I would love to think so, but blogging is part inspiration so I think I will simply have to keep it in mind.
