No, I am not a big fan of dolls. In fact when I was a kid I won a giant six foot Christmas stocking from a grocery store. Well, if it wasn’t for my parents, I would have given it back to them. I didn’t want it. It had a doll in it!
Well now I am older, I have two girls, and am surrounded by dolls. I have a kick the doll into a pile corner, a stuff the Barbi in the drawer section, and the push to the side of the fence outside by the garbage can section for the old rained on left out to die pile. My kids are spoiled, and I should really just sell these things while they are sleeping. Well anyhow, time for the review.
The Waldorf site sells dolls. They also sell, greeting cards, willow baskets, and items made out of stone and wood. Their true specialty though, is selling handmade presents. The products are hand made in England and Germany, and upon special request can do a custom order. They had some very unique items, including some pictures from wool.
The site also offered a unique twist. In building many of these hand made items, they obviously require the raw materials. The twist is, they sell those raw materials as well. I thought it was a great idea. Take a look at it this way. As a company selling arts and crafts it is very easy for someone to vaguely copy their idea. Even if it is someone is just making the craft for them self. What is your target market then? Those that can’t or won’t make their own. By selling the raw materials though, they can now capture those who can. It also keeps your inventory moving, which is a good reason alone.
The dolls creeped me out, but they had a lot of nice gift like items. The pictures from wool seemed to be the best.
