About a week ago I was asked to do a single page review on Kingston Universities Leadership Healthcare page.

Right away, I knew I was going to like the site. I saw my two favorite things for improving site clarity done correctly. The first item was that the main heading matched the title tags. Too often webmasters are so focused on keyword placement that the titles have little to do with the content. On this web page, the would be visitor would know immediately what the page is about, and the browser title display would confirm this. This is especially nice when users have multiple tabs open. Another positive item about their title was that the Kingston University part is in the rear of the title. Imagine if you had multiple pages on this site open in multiple tabs, and all of the titles started with “Kingston University”. If that were the case you would not know what tab was what.

The second thing I liked was the clear headers used to divide content up. Each part of the page was clearly defined by blue headers and white text. They used the same method for the headers site wide, making it easy for a visitor to easily recognize valuable content. The only additional use of emphasis was made in bold, and they were used only to show even smaller pieces of content within.

This page was clear in purpose, consistent in form, and easy to scan to gain quick information. My only negative, the center column was to narrow.
