Is your site dragging? Traffic got you down after that mini turkey vacation where millions actually turn off their computers? It’s time to turn on your site, and bring your hot to the top. The big, and even longer holiday is coming!
Now is the Time
Long popular vacations can be a killer for a webmaster whom has spent months trying to improve the numbers by just 10%. I saw the numbers go down for most of my sites over Thanksgiving, and this site really bombed in the numbers. According to my stats I had zero visitors over the weekend. Fortunately though, I realized my latest WordPress update deleted my stat code. The visitors were there, just not the tracking.
Numbers may have gone down, but it’s okay, most everyone’s numbers dropped. Now is the time to get the jump though. While those computers were off, habits were broken, links forgotten, and new interests have kicked in. It’s time to get that new audience, and build your regular visitor base. How do you do it? Be brave, and pump your Hot to the Top.
Hot to the Top
Check out EpicWallpaper.com. Here is what I mean by being brave, and by moving the hot to the top. Now you could be Mr. Goody Two-shoes, and show all your cute stuff like kittens playing with yarn. Think you will get a ton of traffic that way though? Cute kitties do sell, but they fall to the wayside when compared to a picture of Carmen Electra in a bikini. The owners have taken the HOT, and moved it to the TOP. Visitors will easily see, and guys who like girls in bikinis (a rather large percentage of web surfers fit this demographic), will quickly dig into the site for more of what they like.
It’s doesn’t have to be girls in bikinis to be hot though. In fact, the most prominent thing EpicWallpaper is offering is their Christmas wallpapers. Obviously Christmas items in December would qualify as a hot topic.
You May Have to Dig
Don’t have a hot topic? Dig around a little bit. Brainstorm for new ideas. Could you have a new hot topic every month? Imagine if those new hot topics draw in different types of visitors. It may be as simple as something as a poll, but I would dig harder. You want to catch those new visitors attention so you can keep them until the next long vacation.

Most of my webmaster friends also mentioned about their site’s traffic dropped after Thanksgiving; and now, they’re also worried again for the coming Holidays. I agree with you that it’s Ok for our sites’ numbers to have gone down, after all, other sites’ numbers might have dropped, too.
traffic in general is down for us .. no explanation
