Double Your Twitter Followers – Do Nothing

Is Twitter going crazy? I’m really getting kind of tired of all the issues the Twitter site has. Check out this screenshot I took from TwitterCounter.com today. I doubled my followers over night! Notice the normal growth prior.

How Did I Double My Twitter Followers?

I did nothing. I think I posted about seven or eight tweets yesterday, didn’t get retweeted once, and received no direct messages. I don’t auto follow. I don’t do anything automated, and there it is, more than 4,200 new followers in one day. At first I thought they made a typo in the code, doubling everyones follower numbers. So I checked my Twitter Toolbar’s account, and the numbers were still the same. I then checked a few others that I know and follow. Their numbers stayed the same. The recent gain seems unique to me. How did I double my Twitter followers? I did nothing.

Plagued With Issues

I honestly believe my numbers will return to what they were yesterday in the next day or two. I’m betting it’s a Twitter issue, and not a recent new love for me. One of the things that is really bothering me about Twitter is that it just seems to be plagued with problems. You go to delete a direct message, and it stays there. You click on a user to follow, and it doesn’t do anything. You click on a user to unfollow, and it doesn’t do anything. Maybe it will, who knows.

Every function action works about 50% of the time. The only thing that does seem to work consistently is the actual tweets being submitted. The site is constantly “over capacity” (Could you imagine Google saying that?), and they even have pages that are poorly formated (Check out their TOS page using Firefox).

Hello Twitter! Time to wake up. You have a large audience, and they expect things to work. Start selling ads or something if you need more money.
