Looking around for a new printer, replacing my six year old HP, I found a print reviews site that offers some sound advice, “The Best Printers is All About Personal Preference and Choice”. That means the best printer isn’t necessarily a HP or a Canon, or a Lexmark. It’s the one that fulfills your need.

printerBack in the day, one of my many sales jobs was at IKON Office Supplies. I sold copiers, fax machines, and printers. We sold multiple brands, and though I had my favorites, I learned early on it may not be what the customer needs. Why sell a great big Canon Copier that does 100 pages per minute, when the customer only does about 100 copies a day. Don’t buy a Lamborghini to do a trucks job in others words. When buying a printer, define exactly what you want it to do, and then look for the one that best meets your needs.

Having experience with the inkjet vs. laser area I also found a great article they posted that pretty much explains what you are getting into when selecting laser. See Best Color Lasers. I’m one that needs a multi-purpose, and one mistake I made when making my last purchase was not having a document feeder for my fax function. That’s the main reason I need a new one now. Scanning one page at a time to send a fax stinks. I’m much happier just throwing in the stack and walking away.

Printer Reviews offered some pretty good advice from what I saw, and now a little bit of usability advice from me to them. Add a link to your home page from the other pages!
