Quick! What is the hexadecimal color of my logo? Don’t know? Would you need to look in my CSS maybe? Would you try loading my logo into Photoshop and see? Too slow. Those of you with ColorZilla know.
The easiest way to do it, if you use Firefox, is to install the add-on ColorZilla.
ColorZilla
The ColorZilla add-on appears in two places. It creates an eye dropper in the bottom left of your browser, and also becomes included in your right click menu.

Clicking the eye dropper starts it up. You can then see what the hex number is for any color on the webpage. It also shows content ID, like class name or heading ID. Right clicking will give you additional options, including zoom. Zoom can be very handy for when you are trying to single out a specific pixel color.
Just a cool little plugin for Firefox I thought I would share. Guaranteed to save you time if you have a hard time matching image colors in layout.

Nifty! I remember searching websites for hexadecimal codes years ago, but that little plugin makes them redundant.
Guy.
Glad you like. I use it often.
PS, sent you an email today…
This is nice. I actually use a free tool called Colorpic. It has very similar capabilities, but it’s a stand alone program. That means you have to start it up each time you want to use it. This looks like it might be easier to use. Have to check it out.
Robert, I use a website called “Colorpicker.com” for this type of work. I was able to find the best colors for my registry cleaner reviews website using this site.
I’m surprised this post is not getting more tweet or hits. By far one of the most used plugins I use as a web developer.
Robert, yOur website makes my firefox crash often. I have colorzilla and a bunch of other plugins (not many) .. but the crashes mainly happen when I am on your site.
I came across this very problem awhile back while setting up my website. I ended up using a great little program called ColorPix.
I was very pleased when I installed ColorZilla, like you mentioned, no more copy/pasting into Photoshop haha
With ColorZilla you can get a color reading from any point in your browser.
excellent sharing with good combination of ColorZilla.
ColorZilla is one of my favourite graphics tools while creating webdesigns. It is useful through for instance detecting colors used in already made projects that we find charming.
