Over the years I have done my share of volunteer work by making several fundraising websites. Well now, I might just get a little lazy, and start referring people to BlackbaudNow. BlackbaudNow is an easy to use point-and-click website builder designed specifically with fundraising in mind. Their fee? Just a small cut of the pie. There are no up front fees, and no service fees. HostNexus, known as the Cheap Hosting company, is having a promo for their dedicated servers. The deal runs until October 31st, and is giving $100 cash back on any dedicated server order. I found out about this yesterday, and I thought it amusing that my own hosting company sent me an email just today about their promo. My hosting company was offering the same deal, but for $400 a month to celebrate their 15 years of business. Sorry guys…no deal for you this time. With Host Nexus, you can get a dedicated server for as low as $149 a month.
HostNexus also has a Reseller Web Hosting plan that is priced lower than my hosting company. I’m thinking I may be done with my guys for new stuff. They have plans starting at $24.95 for either Linux or Window machines. Continue reading »
Busy marketing your website? Live in Chicago? LinKernel Business Directory is a new web directory with a slight twist. First, if your business is based in Chicago Illinois, you can list your site for free (see item #15 on their FAQ page). Second, the twist to this directory is that it also supports article submissions as well. Getting articles that you write on other sites is a great way to get free referral traffic to your site for free.
Services
LinKernel hosts articles, and lists business websites in its directory. Submitting articles to help promote your product or service is completely free. There are some guidelines on what you can submit, but posts can accept 5,000 characters so you can write a pretty fat article if you wanted to. Here is a sampler from their site: What is Halloween? Venturing into the affiliate zone? I don’t do too many “How to make money” posts, but I’m sure it’s on the mind for many of you. Personally, I’m a banner ad, product, or service kind of guy. CPA or affiliate sites can work wonders though, especially if you do it right. So I thought I would mention a new CPA network White Fire Media.
Want to know how CPA ads can work well? See my post Targeting Sources for Better Visitors, and look for the paragraph title Sister Sites. It will give you a great hint.
What does CPA mean? CPA simply means cost per action. An action could be a purchase or something as simple as an new registered email. It’s nice to get paid just for referring. White Fire Media is a CPA Network for publishers and advertisers. Continue reading »
Oh man, oh man, oh man…
Since Thursday last week I have been doing some research on small business websites. I have looked at about 300 so far. Some of you reading this may own one of the sites I visited. I sent a few emails to site owners where I saw quick fixes.
Some of the sites though, maybe I should say many of the sites, were just plain horrible. I don’t really know how to explain this other than, I simply have a headache from looking at them. In the past you have probably seen those lists by other bloggers or webmasters where they list the worst sites ever. Well after doing my bit of research some of those worst sites ever were better than the ones I have seen over the past few days. Continue reading »

If you have to ask, then you can’t afford it. Is that really what Network Solutions is going for? Wielding yet another new logo on their ultra white site, you will find that revealing prices on their home page is not their policy. Ever since they popped online, prices on the home page has appeared as a no no. Continue reading »
This is the second post of three part series reviewing some game servers. You can find the first post here: After I’m Done Using the Computer I Like to Relax and Use the Computer
When my days of playing Half Life ended, I turned into an even more computerized geek, and started playing on Microsoft’s Flight Simulator. I was taking pilot lessons at the time so it had some practical value as well. When I first started playing, I found a few others that would want to join me online, but the only way we could communicate was by hosting a Teamspeak server. Putting my old PC to work again, bandwidth killer once again landed on my lap. It was time to have someone else host the burden.
Reviewing the services again by guys at Game Data again, they are the ones that host Counter Strike as mentioned in my previous post, you can find that they also do Teamspeak Servers, and Ventrilo Server Hosting. Continue reading »
You read the title right. After sitting all day on the PC doing analyses, building websites, and managing this blog, I like to finish the day by going on the computer. Not really, but I do often. It’s the American Idol, dance, prime time T.V. stuff that forces me back to the PC. My wife and kids love all those competition shows, and I simply can’t stand them. My other choices? Watch T.V. in bed upstairs, or actually have a little fun with the computer.
Stick around and follow this three part posts about game servers. I’ll post some reviews of a few, and tell you what I like to use. Today’s post will review the popular gaming server site Counter-Strike. RSS and email subscription can be found on top of the left sidebar of this site. Part II is now available.
Getting Blasted in Half Life – It’s Not Me
I admit it. I used to play Half Life. I got pretty into it, even hosted my own server, and then I heard about Counter-Strike Source. Continue reading »
Over the past year or so I have kept in close contact with another webmaster from overseas. His name is Temi, and he is the one responsible for the Boss Cart Shopping Cart Contest I am having. If you think Temi is kept busy just managing Boss Cart you would be very mistaken. He has countless sites, directories, and clients. Another ingenious idea he had was to create Job Boards using WordPress. Continue reading »
