Allow Users to Edit Comments with WP Plugin

One of the first plugins I added to this blog was WP Ajax Edit Comments. Today, I was really wishing that a popular blog that I like to visit did the same. I cranked out a quick comment, hit submit, and said oh crud. I made the comment without double checking it, and now it’s stuck there with no chance for correction. It even got a comment from another visitor, so it’s really stuck there. A comment editor could be a real life saver for your users.
WP Ajax Edit Comments
It’s a long name for a plugin, but it works. Another important item to note here, my visitors use it. Two key feature for this plugin is time and defense. It allows you to set the time period to allow users to edit it, and it works with two popular spam filters, Akismet and Defensio. I use Akismet.
The plugin is designed for WordPress versions 2.5 and later, and it just recently updated to it’s new version.

Hi Robert,
I’ve been thinking about adding a plug-in like you mentioned so that visitors will have the ability to edit their comments. Like you, I know that I’ve left comments on blogs and wished I had the ability to do a quick edit. I’ve also had a few of my visitors write me and ask if I would edit their comments.
Thanks for bringing the plug-in to my attention. You just convinced me to give it a try.
Glad you liked. Another thing to note here. It counts ever time an edit was made, so if it’s not getting used on your site you know what to do. Delete.
Hi Robert,
Thank you for your comments on my blog. I often make mistakes when commenting on a blog post. Sometimes I misspell my email address and as a result the gravatar image will not show up!
I have also made typos in my comments. Since comments affect our reputation, it is nice to give the user an opportunity to fix any errors.
One question, how does these plugins identify the user? is it based on email ids? If the email id is used to track the user, it could introduce a security issue.
Thank you for sharing!
Regards
Aaron
One of the options it allows, is indefinite editing for a comment. So for the only way for that to work, is by comment ID. To make sure I took a peek at the code, and that is what it appears to be. A little snippet of code: $WPrapAjaxEditComments->approve_comment($commentID, $postID);
O Thanks Robert,
i chanced this type of error some times and i thought that may there be something that i can edit my comment which is posted before proof reading, but now i m glad to read this post. let i check it in my site. Thanks
Thanks for the link, as you said there are situations when becomes very useful. I will check it. All the best
